About ¡Salud!

¡Salud! was created by a group of Oregon winery owners and Tuality Healthcare physicians who recognize that seasonal workers continuously face the difficult task of meeting their basic health needs with only a few months’ income to stretch over a full year. These are the workers who are truly seasonal, moving from berries, to vineyards, to Christmas trees; working only one to two months in each area. Because the work is so temporary, employers are unable to enroll them on their health plans. These men and women and their families are uninsurable and often do not seek professional healthcare until their problems become acute. They have a poor knowledge of basic health education and are overwhelmed by the wealth of complex and confusing resources available in the medical system.
